PARMA HEIGHTS HOSTS OHIO FLAGS OF HONOR
OPENING CEREMONY AT 7 P.M. FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 2017 AT GREENBRIER COMMONS

Parma Heights – For the fifth consecutive year, the City of Parma Heights will host the Ohio Flags of Honor (OFOH). The OFOH was founded to honor the men and women of Ohio who paid the ultimate price protecting our freedom in the service of our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Ohio Flags of Honor will be on display in the Greenbrier Commons at 6200 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, beginning with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, August 11, and continuing through a closing ceremony at Noon on Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Rising Christian recording artist, singer and songwriter Samantha Hasselbusch will perform the National Anthem to open the ceremony. Pastor Eben Brusco with the Vineyard Church, 6735 York Road, will deliver the Invocation at the event.

Created by Gino Zimmer, the father of fallen hero Army Specialist Nicholaus Zimmer, killed in Iraq on May 30, 2004, this traveling display has over 550 United States Flags, of which over 250 represent the brave Ohioans who lost their lives.

Zimmer, along with Angelo Nuzzo, a former U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, who was in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, as well as Parma Heights Mayor Michael Byrne, will speak at the event. As a part of the opening ceremony, a tree will be planted in memory of Nicholaus Zimmer.

The families of Ohio’s fallen heroes have been invited to attend the opening ceremony. Many will attend from across the Buckeye state.
